Marigny New Orleans
Sitting adjacent to the French Quarter, Faubourg Marigny (aka The Marigny) is bounded by N. Rampart Street, St. Claude Avenue, Press Street, and Esplanade Avenue.
Settled in the mid 1800s by French Creoles, German immigrants and free people of color, in the 20th century, the Marigny became home to a large number of musicians and artists.
Over the years, residents began to migrate from the French Quarter to the Marigny, and it became a local mecca for live music venues and restaurants. It was a great secret, but the word soon spread to tourists that Frenchmen Street, not Bourbon, was the place to be.
As popularity grew, so did home prices, since there are some stellar examples of traditional New Orleans architecture throughout the neighborhood.
Extremely walkable, it doesn’t matter where you live in the Marigny today, you’ll be near live music, excellent food, and a great selection of neighborhood bars.
