New Orleans Hazardous Materials Collection Day
Orleans Parish residents: You have an opportunity on May 9th to get rid of the hazardous materials that may be hanging around your house or garage at the next New Orleans Hazardous Materials Collection Day.
The City of New Orleans Department of Sanitation will be holding a household hazardous materials collection day on May 9, 2015 from 8am until 1pm for parish residents only.
With a valid driver’s license or brake tag, you can drop off the following items:
- Pesticides
- Garden chemicals
- Muriatic acid
- Aerosols
- Household cleaners
- Antifreeze
- Paint, latex and oil based (The Green Project is part of this collection day, so they will hopefully be able to reuse any paint collected)
- Paint thinner, varnish
- Grout
- Oil, gasoline
- Drano, bleach
- Flammable liquids
- Mercury devices
- Pool shock
- Auto batteries
Not being accepted:
- Explosives
- Radioactive materials
- Medical waste
- Asbestos
- Glass
- Hazardous waste from businesses or schools
