All Saints Day in New Orleans
All Saints Day is observed in many countries with large Catholic populations. Believers in Mexico, Spain and Portugal make offerings at the graves of loved ones. In the Philippines, families gather and picnic in cemeteries.
In New Orleans, it is the traditional day of cleaning and painting tombs and headstones of family members. After a Halloween night that may have been filled with debauchery, it’s time to pay our respects.
