Frenchmen Art Market
As the popularity of Frenchmen Street has grown, more and more visitors are finding their way out of the Quarter, across Esplanade and into the Marigny. One of my favorite things to do in the area is visit the Frenchmen Art Market at 619 Frenchmen Street. Open from Thursday through Saturday from 7pm to 1am and Sundays from 6pm to midnight, it’s an open air market filled with local artists and artisans.
On my last visit, I picked up the coolest little second liner (complete with umbrella) made completely out of copper wire. His unique glass face was created by the vendor in the next booth. It’s a beautiful collaboration of local artists that has found a home on the mantle in our office and has been a conversation starter again and again, especially when it’s draped in a boa during Mardi Gras season.
I love that shopping at the market means that we are supporting local artists and artisans and their families. Remember to keep it local whenever possible!
