Mortgage Recording Fees Increase

Louisiana Mortgage Recording Fees

Louisiana Mortgage Recording Fees

Effective today, August 1, 2017, the cost of mortgage recording fees for a real estate sale or mortgage is increasing. And not by a few dollars.

The Louisiana legislature established new uniform recording fees for every parish in the state, and the projected fees for Orleans and Jefferson Parishes are jumping up enough that both homebuyers and those refinancing a mortgage need to take notice. Closing costs will increase whether you are making a new purchase or just refinancing your existing mortgage.

Orleans Parish Recording Costs

Sale of property

Costs are increasing from $88 to a range of $150 – $260 depending on the number of pages that must be recorded.

Mortgage Recordation Only (Refinance)

Costs are increasing from $88 to a range of $250 – $350, depending on the number of pages recorded.

NOTE: This is in addition to the Orleans Parish $325 transfer tax assessed on all sales/refinances.

Jefferson Parish Recording Costs

Sale of property

Costs are increasing from $50 to a range of $100 – $200 depending on the number of pages that must be recorded.

Mortgage Recordation Only (Refinance)

Costs are increasing from $220 to a range of $200 – $300, depending on the number of pages recorded.
