The Munch Factory

Gentilly’s loss is definitely the Lower Garden District’s gain, with The Munch Factory opening on the corner of Sophie Wright and St. Mary.

We wandered in on opening day to grab lunch and check them out and we were certainly not disappointed. The decor has changed dramatically from when the location housed Cafe Roma. There’s a cozy and warm feel to the place and even though it was the first official lunch service, the food was outstanding and the staff was attentive.

Fans of the old location will be happy to know that the famous Elysian Peels, served with a fresh herb aioli, are still on the menu and they don’t disappoint. And those sliders (aka the Backyard Burger Twinz)? Oo la la! It didn’t look like a lot of food when they set the plate down, but I couldn’t even finish it all. Cooked to order, the burgers were juicy with a great bread to meat ratio. Splurge on the $2 and add bacon and BBQ sauce for an extra treat.

Also recommended? Try the gumbo or Aunt Irma’s Hawaiian Tuna salad. We’re waiting for the launch of the Sunday brunch so we can stuff ourselves before heading across the street to the Half Moon for cocktails.

You can find the entire Munch Factory menu here. Look for the drop downs to view the drink and catering menus as well. Or, use your Waitr App for delivery.
