Mardi Gras 2016
Local videographer Crista Rock spent the second Saturday of Mardi Gras 2016 on the parade route doing what she does best – capturing the moment while filming at the Iris and Tucks parades.
Backed by a beautiful sunny New Orleans day and the infectious sounds of Mobile music artists 2 Major Twinz, the short video was posted to Facebook on Saturday evening and by Sunday was the darling of local feeds, with over 17,000 shares and hundreds of thousands of views as people spotted themselves along with their friends and family on camera.
We love that her perspective isn’t the typical tourist view of Mardi Gras, but what we all know and love. Families. Dancing. Costumes. What the REAL Mardi Gras means to natives and long time residents.
Congratulations Crista!
p.s. You may recognize some of her other work, as the creative talent behind our own neighborhood videos.
