When it comes to writing a mission statement, most agents will roll their eyes and proclaim it boring. Or unneccessary. Or a waste of their time.
But your mission statement determines how you do everything
It provides the focus when you’re at a crossroads deciding to go left or right.
When faced with a business decision, a good mission statement can help you make the right one that is in alignment with your personal mission.
It defines your business.
The old adage is that people do business with other people that they know, like, and trust. But if you don’t know who you are and what your business is, how is anyone supposed to get that warm and fuzzy feeling about you? How can they know, like, and trust you if you don’t even know who you are?
Creating your own statement
What do you believe?
How does that belief make you behave?
How does it impact your clients?
The answers to those 3 questions can be combined into one powerful mission statement about you and your business. BUT. It needs to be true. It needs to be honest. It needs to be the compass that you use to drive your business every day, not just a task to check off of the old to-do list.
It has to mean something to you or it won’t mean anything at all.
What’s ours?
At Crescent City Living, our mission statement is:
Creating exceptional client experiences by cultivating exceptional agents.
That’s it. Just one sentence that distills our goals into something that’s easy to understand. What’s behind it is the belief that exceptional agents are cultivated, groomed, educated, taught, mentored, and helped to create exceptional client service and assistance, and experiences.
