If there’s one thing that every agent needs, it’s a Plan B.
What’s Plan B?
B = Backup.
Who is your backup when you go on vacation? Sitting in some exotic, beautiful location with your laptop and phone in hand 24/7 is not a vacation, y’all. We all need time to disconnect and having a plan and a person in place to help is critical to your mental health.
Or when you find yourself stuck in bed with the flu (we won’t even mention the corona word)?
Or when you’re blowing and going so hard that things start to fall through the cracks?
We all need that person we can count on when the going gets tough.
If you don’t have someone like that already in your office, I encourage you to expand your horizons and tap your friend that works for another brokerage. Or reach out to that great agent you met at a mixer or a YPN event.
Your Plan B should be someone you like, you trust, and that you are certain will give your clients the same level of care that you would. While it can be tempting to ask a rookie to cover for you, be sure to interview them well because they may not have the expertise yet to handle everything you need them to do.
We all need a backup plan in place. Today.
When you’re stuck in a bind, it’s too late.
