Tucked in between Lake Pontchartrain and City Park, the Lake Vista New Orleans neighborhood has a wagon wheel street layout. Long green spaces divide the area into 5 sections. Because there are so many cul-de-sac streets, there is little through traffic in the neighborhood.
Lake Vista architecture is typically ranchers or traditional 2 story construction, with an occasional contemporary or mid-century modern thrown in. Homes are larger, with an average size of 4 bedrooms, 3 baths and 3,000 square feet of living area.
Lot fronts range from 50 to over 100 feet wide, with depths of 125 feet and up. Cul-de-sac lots are particularly large for the area and back up to park spaces. Off-street parking in the form of driveways and garages is the norm, as are beautifully maintained landscaping.
Optional membership in the Lake Vista Property Owners Association is $50 per year and there are building restrictions in place for any changes to properties in the subdivision.
Despite the close proximity to the lake, Lake Vista is truly a suburban neighborhood, with the need for a car to get to shopping and dining.
