Downtown New Orleans has been the scene of some of the biggest changes to the city landscape over the last couple of decades.

The Warehouse District was nothing more than a collection of old warehouses until after the 1984 World’s Fair. The Central Business District went through a lull in office leasing and some of those high rises had less than full occupancy for years and years.

That’s all changed now. There is an amazing number of restaurants, businesses, hotels, condo buildings, and more stretching across downtown. Harrah’s Casino. Art galleries. Glass blowers. Pop up markets. Museums. There’s certainly no lack of things to do in this vibrant neighborhood that’s anchored by the Convention Center on the river side and the Superdome on the other.

Downtown New Orleans is home to the Saenger Theatre (check out the Broadway shows), Canal Street shopping, the Riverwalk outlet mall, and the upscale stores of Canal Place. Even though you’re in the middle of the city, there’s green space to be found in Lafayette Square.
