Bocage Neighborhood New Orleans
Located on the West Bank of New Orleans in Algiers, Bocage is a mid-level subdivision right off of the main artery of General de Gaulle Drive. Developed in the late 60s and early 70s, the architecture is mostly traditional 2 stories or ranch homes.
Lot sizes average about 50 x 100 and most homes have fenced yards and garage parking, although some attached garages have been converted into living spaces over the years.
The streets of Bocage are lined with mature oak trees, which provide a beautiful canopy, but also contribute to some poor street conditions, with potholes and concrete heaves.
Most of the homes in Bocage are well cared for, although long time residents may leave homes in need of some updating to suit today’s tastes. The average home has 4 bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths and around 2,300 square feet of living area.
Just outside of the subdivision boundaries sits Alice M. Harte Charter School, so take note of school drop off and pick up times if you use the Eton Street entrace.
There is no subdivision pool or park, but Norman Playground is 1 block outside of Bocage and Park Timbers Swim Club, a 5 minute drive, offers summer memberships for those that love to swim without maintaining a pool year round.
Commute times to downtown New Orleans average 30 minutes at peak times and 15 minutes outside of rush hour.
