Central City New Orleans
Originally designed by Barthelemy Lafon in 1809, Central City became a historic district in 1982 based on the significance of the Italianate, Greek Revival and Queen Anne architecture in the neighborhood.
The main street of Central City, Oretha Castle Haley Blvd, has an active merchants and business association that sponsors an annual festival in a neighborhood that is making a huge comeback from its fall into blight and poverty in the 80s. In May 2017, OCH was named a Great American Main Street by the National Main Street Center.
