Clean the gutters, soffit and fascia
Oak tree leaves can clog your gutters faster than you can say king cake, so clear them out. While you’re up there, go ahead and give the soffit and fascia a good cleaning to make them look their best.
Check your front door
Take that wreath down and then take a good look at your front door. Are there cobwebs hanging around the edges? Is that old wasp nest still stuck at the top? A fresh coat of paint in a cheerful, eye catching color can wake up the front of your house. Returning the wreath is optional, but if you do, make sure it’s in good shape. There’s nothing worse than standing at a front door staring at a sad, out of season decoration.
Weed, mulch, and freshen up your garden
We can’t stress the importance of curb appeal enough. You don’t have to have the garden of the month, but you do need any landscaping to be neat and tidy. Get rid of the weeds. Add a fresh layer of mulch. Throw in a flat of seasonal flowers and call it day.
Clear the clutter
Begin to clear some of the things that might be cluttering your rooms. That collection of creepy dolls should be the first thing to go into a box (sorry, doll lovers). Whether you donate, dump or pack away for your next place, removing extra stuff from your house will make it more appealing to buyers.
Clean the ceiling fans
Since the ladder is already out from cleaning the gutters, take a minute and clean the ceiling fans, including the light bulbs and covers. Those Swiffer dusters with long handles are perfect for this job, but be sure to lay an old sheet down on the floor to catch the dust bunnies.
