Dillard Neighborhood New Orleans
Surrounding the university of the same name is the Dillard neighborhood in New Orleans. A subsection of the larger Gentilly area, the streets are lined with renovated, raised cottages and a sprinkle of new construction. Occasionally, there’s a rancher or mid-century modern home that hits the market, but those are few and far between. Homes for sale in the neighborhood are sparse, with long time owners staying put in a neighborhood they love.
Most houses are on narrow lots 35-45 feet wide and have fenced yards and off-street parking. The average home features 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, and measures just over 1,500 square feet of living area. New construction is increasing in the area, with developers building affordable homes.
Located in an X flood zone, flood premiums won’t break the bank, making this a good choice for buyers trying to minimize insurance costs.
While Dillard doesn’t have any neighborhood parks, City Park is a short drive away, as is the lakefront. You’ll also find businesses along Elysian Fields Avenue and Gentilly Blvd., but most errands will require the use of a car or public transportation.
