New Orleans East
With a variety of subdivisions to choose from, there’s a definite divide in home prices when you’re searching in a New Orleans East neighborhood. Homes nearer Chef Menteur Blvd are in the more affordable mid $100k range, while those in the Eastover and Lake Forest Estates subdivisions run from the mid $300s and up.
In the lower price points, ranch homes are the most common offering. Higher price range homes are available, with a variety of styles ranging from French Provincials to Tudors to traditional 2 story homes.
The most common lots are 60 x 90, but there are larger parcels in the gated communities. Off-street parking is the norm, with lower-priced homes featuring carports and higher-end properties featuring garages.
A true suburban development, this is not the place for home buyers looking for a very walkable neighborhood. You’ll need a car to get around, but you’ll have a place to park it when you get back home.
