Here we are in the final week of the year and it’s time for the Crescent City Living 2020 wrapup of events, happenings, and trends for the year.
January
Crescent City Living celebrated our 8th birthday and we welcomed Kiersten Leflore and Taylor Carroll to the team. On the fun side, we had our annual awards lunch at Gris-Gris (if you haven’t been, GO!) and celebrated agent wins from 2019.
February
Mardi Gras was in full swing, so the market cooled off for a couple of weeks, while we went to parades and brunches and held the final Thoth party at the old Uptown office.
There was a big national real estate brand that tried to scoop us up, but we won’t give up our independence and our pride in being a local female-owned brokerage, not a franchise.
March
Right after we welcomed Carolyn Englebretsen to the team, good old COVID-19 showed up to the party and essentially shut the city (and us) down while we figured out the right protocols for safely helping our clients.
April
Like a lot of you, much of April was spent at home, meeting over Zoom, decluttering, cleaning, gardening, and hoping that the ‘rona would be over quickly. How naive we all were! That didn’t stop us from continuing to list and sell properties, though, as we closed out one of our busiest months ever.
May
The COVID fatigue started to set in, but we persevered, spending a lot of time online taking continuing education classes and earning designations. Our money was used to support local artists, restaurants, and tipping musicians online while they performed free live-streamed shows.
June
The office reopened for a short time and we quickly realized that social distancing wasn’t going anywhere, so the search began for a new space that would allow us to work in the office while staying that magic 6 feet apart. At the same time, we updated our neighborhood pages with the most recent data. Anniversary celebrations included Roel (5 years) and Ariell (2 years).
July
The site of our new office was finally wrapped up, a lease signed, and we started the massive job of packing for our move.
August
Yay! We moved into the new office after spending entirely too much time on Facebook marketplace, getting rid of all of the stuff we accumulated that didn’t make the cut for the new space. Anniversary celebrations included Leslie and Heather, the dynamic duo that makes up the Be New Orleans team.
September
Earning the latest “Welcome to the team” swag bag was Jennifer Kvistad and we celebrated 5 years with Lisa Julien and 2 years with Clara Williams.
October
We finally got the OK to add information on sold properties to our website, so y’all can snoop on your neighbors to your heart’s content. To find sold data, just hit the “more” button on your property search and add the Sold status. Voila!
The official print version of our Home Buyer Guide arrived and we were all giddy right up until Hurricane Zeta showed up and knocked us offline and in the dark for several days.
November
After casting our ballots on November 3rd, we spent the rest of the month welcoming Emily Conelly, cheering Sarah Odem’s 2 year anniversary, holding in-office training sessions with scintillating topics like “Bugs 101”, and squeeeeeeing over the newest CCL grandbaby to arrive in the world.
We also hit a milestone, with over 1,500 properties sold since Crescent City Living first opened its doors.
December
At this point, we’re just thrilled we’ve made it through the year, because that sure didn’t seem like a sure thing during the fall. Are we still wearing masks, social distancing, and taking every COVID precaution? You betcha.
But we’re also celebrating some new team members arriving in January, the Saints being NFC South champs right now, Santa not having the COVID, and the start of vaccine distribution so maybe…just maybe…2021 will be a bit better for everyone.
Happy New Year, y’all.
