My New Orleans with Megan Turner Ledbetter
What’s your favorite New Orleans architecture style and why?
Arts and Crafts Style is my favorite because of the eccentric floor plans, deep porches, “rustic” feel, and of course, the unique leaded glass window designs! It’s a style that is kind of all over the place, yet comes together harmoniously.
What do you think is an underrated New Orleans neighborhood?
Algiers. Many people think of New Orleans and think French Quarter, Garden District, and City Park, but Algiers has a lot of history! It was a major railroad center. Within 50 years of developing the land and buildings, a huge fire destroyed most of the city. The speed at which Algiers has recovered makes it a very booming city. It is definitely up and coming.
Money is no object! Where would you live and why?
I would live in the French Quarter in a small condo with rustic elements throughout. I could be right on top of the action and minutes from entertainment, shops, restaurants, and more!
What’s the most walkable neighborhood in New Orleans?
There’s so many. It just depends on what you like. I would have to say Uptown. You can see pedestrians riding bikes, the St. Charles streetcar, beautiful mansions, and more!
